This former captain of the National Champion SAIT Trojans of the ACAC, was recruited by teammate & SAIT alumni Evan Perry.   "Hops" played 2 years with the Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League. The smooth skating Hopfner likes to join the rush and is strong threat offensively in addition to being a strong piece of the Buzzards defensive and social drinking attack.   Dan was loaned to the Alabama Slammers of the WHA2 for the remainder of the 03-04 season, making him the first Buzzard to go back to a pro team.
